Things I Learned About Being A Mom (For Ten Months)

I am a stay at home mother for just TEN MONTHS and still adjusting and trying to balance everything - chores, taking care of the little miss AND the husband, blogging, connecting with friends and the outside world and most importantly, maintaining my sanity. In my ten months of being a mother without MY OWN mother beside me to support and to correct me, I have learned quite a number of things about my journey and I hope to write the same title post after a year.

1. I've learned that your baby will never tell you "mommy I'm hungry, pull up your shirt right this moment!" You have to be so sensitive on when she's hungry or bored or have pooped.

2. I've learned that your baby can sense the panic you have inside if something is not right. She will cry as if asking you "what's going on?"

3. I've learned that mothers are baby's first playmates.

4. I've learned that if you want your child to remember things, let her GET USED to it by always doing (repeating) it.

5. I've learned that time flies so fast you have to have your camera with you ALL THE TIME. To capture the precious moments you wanted to share with your kids when they grow up, and with their kids when it's time for them to have.

6. I've learned to not be pressured by what other mothers tell about their kids' developments. Give your child enough time to learn things by not pressuring them to.

7. I've learned that comparison is inevitable. Just smile and never comment. Or if possible, walk away.

8. I've learned that the way you planned to do things before you were a mom and the way you actually do things after becoming one, are two different things.

9. I've learned that my mother was a wonderful woman. She worked full time and still able to take care of four kids running around the house, messing everything with bruised knees and elbows. I have never seen a pile of laundry or unfolded clothes sitting for days. Or dirty dishes in the sink nor dusts at home when I was growing up. I wonder if she could have written all her tricks and published it, that might have been the #1 bestselling book in the market!

10. I've learned that being a mom is the hardest, most important and most rewarding job there is - and I wouldn't trade it for anything!

10 DIY Gifts For Mother's Day

In the past years, especially the time when my mother was still here, I always see my siblings (and myself) buy things for mother's day. But remembering that I make simple cards for friends or some DIY stuff for colleagues, I thought, why not make something like that for family on occasions like this?

1. A card

2. Flower Bouquet. If you have flowers in your garden, all you will need are scissors, nice paper or cellophane for wrapping and ribbon.
3. A flower vase for you bouquet made out of old newspaper.
4. If you don't have a flower garden, make flowers!

5. Towel cake/cupcake fro display.
6. A headband made out of tulle or a loose powder sponge.
7. A poem. I admire people who can make poem. I can only 'invent' story for my students before LOL!
8. An earing.

9. Prepare your meal for the day. Make your mother the Queen even for a day :)
10. Coffee table digi scrap album. You will only need photoshop or element, templates and have them printed.

My Top Ten Favorite Songs

1. Moonriver by frank Sinatra - I know that it's kinda old but I really like this song. My mom used to sing this song that's why i learned to  like it, especially when  this Korean Show on tv used this song when they danced, oh it's really beautiful. And so, I used this as our first husband-wife wedding dance but unfortunately the dj wasn't able to load it after my dad and I danced.

2. Superhuman by Chris Brown - yes I know that his reputation was ruined because of what happened between him and Rhiana but I don't like him either. It's just his songs.

3. Cry by Mandy Moore - I really really like Mandy Moore, no hang ups, very simple, very talented, beautiful artist.

4. Way Back Into Love from the movie Music and Lyrics by Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. This is a very nice song and I like the movie as well.

5. The Man Who Can't Be Moved by The Scrip - I heard this song in Ghost Whisperer and I checked and downloaded it. A very meaningful song.

6. Same Mistake by James Blunt - no special reason, I just like the melody and the meaning of the song.

7. Without You by Charlie Wilson - very nice song, I like the meaning especially the lines 'cause my sun doesn't shine, sun doesn't shine, without you'

8. You're Beautiful (thank you!) by James Blunt - I like it, I really like the meaning, so if you're doubting about yourself, always remember that you're beautiful.

9. Sway by Bic Runga - this song was the soundtrack (I think) of American Pie 1 that I watched in college with my friend and we have no idea what this movie was all about. When we entered the movie house there are very few women watching. So we thought it might be something strong or an action pack or an adventure movie. Hahaha!

10. Someday We'll Know by Mandy Moore and New Radicals - I like it because it's an informative song and at the same time one of the soundtracks of A Walk To Remember.
